SEVENTH GRADE

Math: The class took a test today.

Geography: We began reading about culture in Mexico today. We will continue with Central America and the Caribbean tomorrow.

EIGHTH GRADE

Pre-Algebra: We began discussing and working through some linear word problems today. There is no homework!

Algebra I:

You have a performance assessment tomorrow. Here are some sample problems to work. Do these and THEN watch the video. It will be up a bit later.

1. Ben decided to sell sushi at lunch for $5. Payton thought this was a good idea so he decided to sell sushi too, but he charged $8. Ben's cost for ingredients was $60 while Payton spent $72 on ingredients. How many lunches would each of them have to sell to make a profit? Write two inequalities that represent each situation. After how many lunches would Ben and Payton's profits be equal?

2. Season tickets to the theater are $30 for each show plus a registration fee of $50. Season tickets to the orchestra are $40 each plus a $20 registration fee. Write an equation to represent each situation. How much would it cost to see 10 theater productions? 10 orchestra productions? After how many shows would the cost be the same?

3. Two ships are 612 miles apart at midnight. They meet at 9 am. What is the rate of both ships in one is 20 mph faster than the other?

4. Michelle has a pocketful of coins. She counted them and discovered that she had 40 more nickels than dimes. If the coins totaled $5.45, how many of each coin did she have?

Here are the videos! Be sure to have worked through the problems above first and THEN watch the videos.

The second one should be ready soon.....
