SIXTH GRADE

The class learned about integers today. Remember, an is any  positive whole number and its opposite, plus zero. That means - no fractions and no decimals. Absolute value is how far away a number is from zero on the number line. Absolute value is ALWAYS POSITIVE. The opposite of a number is whatever you'd add to it to get zero. (opposites can be negative) The opposite of 3 is -3. The opposite of -4 is 4. The absolute value of 3 is 3. The absolute value of -3 is 3. It's 127 in the book - it's the first lesson on Integers.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

We had a short class today so we did not finish the lesson. There is no homework! We will finish tomorrow.

GEOGRAPHY

The class took a country quiz and then we reviewed for the Africa Test. The test is Friday. We will not have class tomorrow because of yearbook signing. (There might be about 10 minutes at the end.) So it is important to study at home! Please let me know if you have any questions.

PRE-ALGEBRA

ALGEBRA I

We practiced completing the square today on the SmartBoard. Each student took a turn and worked through a problem. Then, they had fun making up problems for me to solve! No homework.

See you tomorrow.

SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment was two-step equations. Here is a video with a few examples!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Lesson 7.3 - Triangles. Remember, you can classify a triangle by its sides or by its angles.

By its sides:

No sides the same length: Scalene.

2 sides the same length: Isoceles

All three sides the same length: Equilateral

By its angles:

Acute: all three angles are acute

Right: One angle is a right angle

Obtuse: one angle is obtuse

So, a triangle can be a right triangle that is also isosceles. That means it has one right angle and two sides are the same length.

Also, don't forget that the three angles of any triangle add up to 180 degrees. So if you know two of them, add them together and subtract from 180 to find the third angle.

GEOGRAPHY

We finished Capture The Flag: World Domination! Ean and Sam won! Good job.

THERE IS A COUNTRY QUIZ TOMORROW. GET NOTES.
