SIXTH GRADE

Today, you are doing #1-23 on page 115. Here is a video with a few examples:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The Best Buy worksheet. Today, you are finding the unit rate of each item and then deciding which items is the best buy. Remember, when you divide to find the unit rate and it doesn't go in evenly by the cents place, add one zero and divide again. Then round to the nearest cent.

GEOGRAPHY

The map activity for Asia is due tomorrow. And remember....there is a Country Quiz tomorrow!

PRE-ALGEBRA

We didn't have class today because of Mass for the Annunciation of the Lord. The assignment over x and y intercepts from yesterday is due tomorrow. Be sure to watch the video if you have questions!

ALGEBRA I

We began going over how to solve quadratic equations by factoring. There is no homework tonight though. We have a few more examples to do tomorrow and then the girls will start on the homework.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE

You are doing #1-17 and #18 is extra credit. I don't have the page number handy, but it is lesson 3-1: Patterns. Email me if you have questions!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

You are doing word problems with unit rates. Refer to the guided problems that we did in class if you need help. Or you can send me an email. Remember to first write the ratio as a unit rate. There is one that you can't without making it a fraction. For that one, just set up a proportion and do cross products. Here is an example of one where you can't make it a unit rate:

Every 9 days, Rachel read 6 novels. How many novels does she read in 12 days?

You would set it up like this:

9 days  =  12 days
6 novels     x novels

Then cross multiply: 6 times 12 = 9x, or 72 = 9x. Then solve by dividing both sides by 9. 72 divided by 9 = 8. So in 12 days, Rachel would have read 8 novels.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

The class read about South Asia today and then worked on an assignment of the map of Asia. This is due on Wednesday. There is also a country quiz Wednesday.

PRE-ALGEBRA

x and y intercepts. Here is a video with some examples:

ALGEBRA I

Choosing a factoring strategy. You are doing #2-40 evens on the page. I don't know which page!

See you tomorrow,

SIXTH GRADE

There is no homework today! We began talking about measuring using a ruler and making a Giant Inch to help see the different intervals.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Page 247 #6-25. Here is a video with examples:

GEOGRAPHY

We finished discussing the Kurds and their fight for independence. The homework is a page about Kurdish independence and whether the students think they should get it. Be sure to choose to comprimise on one thing and explain why.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Writing equations of lines in slope intercept form. Here is a video with examples:

ALGEBRA I

Factoring trinomials where the leading coefficient is greater than 1 - using the grouping method. Here is a video:

SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment is page 294, #8-24. You are doing more conversions and adding and subtracting measurements. Here is a video with some examples:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

page 240 #1-27. Today you are determining whether two ratios form a proportion. Remember to do cross products. If they are equal, then the proportions are equal.

GEOGRAPHY

Today we spent time discussing the Malaysian Airlines that disappeared. Then we read about the Kurds. There is no homework today.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Finding slope from a graph, from two points, and from an equation. Please let me know if you need help!

ALGEBRA I

Factoring when the coefficient of x squared is greater than 1. Please let me know if you need help!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

Today, the class learned how to convert measurements in the Customary System. Here is a video:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Unit Rates. Remember, you are NOT doing #13. On #7-12, there will be 3 answers each. The two different unit rates and then which one is the better buy. Here is a video:

GEOGRAPHY

Mrs. Minden-Zins came to class to talk about the Patrick J. Minden Scholarship. A letter will be going home this week with details.

The homework is the Atlas Activity for Asia.

PRE-ALGEBRA

The class worked on corrections during class and brushed up on finding slope and writing an equation of a line. No homework.

ALGEBRA I

#24-64 evens only. It's the page with factoring trinomials...let me know if you need help!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

There was no homework today. I passed back a lot of graded papers. The end of the nine weeks is this Friday so it is important that any corrections are turned in no later than Friday.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

There is a test over Inequalities tomorrow. Every type of inequality you will need to do is on the review I passed out today. You will get points for turning in the review, so be sure to complete it!

GEOGRAPHY

The class worked in small groups on the history of Israel and its neighbors. There is no homework, but there IS A COUNTRY QUIZ TOMORROW! Be sure to study.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Graphing equations using slope interecept form. Here is a video with some examples:

ALGEBRA I

Factoring by grouping. Please let me know if you have any quesitons!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey
