SIXTH GRADE

The class worked on a project during class today. There is no homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Two step inequalities. You solve these using the same methods you learned to solve two step equations. You will not be multiplying or dividing both sides by a negative number on this assignment, so you don't have to worry about flipping the inequality.

GEOGRAPHY

The class took notes today and received an extra credit assignment. There is no other homework. The next country quiz will be Tuesday.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Finding slope from a graph. I made a video for you!

ALGEBRA I

Finding the GCF and factoring out the GCF. Let me know if you need help!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

The assignment for today is fraction, decimal, percent conversions. The videos from the last few days will show you how to do any of these. Let me know if you have any questions!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

More practice with one step inequalities. One side has addition and subtraction inequalities. The other has multiplication and division inequalities. Be sure to watch videos from the last few days if you are stuck. Or just let me know if you need help!

GEOGRAPHY

The assignment for today is the worksheet with questions about the Arabian Peninsula and Iraq.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Graphing Linear Equations from a table of values. Here is a video with several examples. Please let me know if you need help!

ALGEBRA I

The class took the polynomials test today. No homework!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

Today the class learned conversions between percents and decimals and fractions. I made a video with several examples:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class learned multiplication and division inequalities. Remember that the only thing different about these, is that when you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number, you have to flip the inequality! You are doing #6-14 and #18-26. (I think those are the numbers...it's the first 9 in each section. I did not assign the ones with decimals.) Then be sure to graph any 9 answers. It doesn't matter which 9 you graph.

GEOGRAPHY

The class continued learning about the Middle East. The assignment was to label countries and landforms on a map and name the capitals of the countries in the Middle East.

PRE-ALGEBRA

The class took a quiz today. No homework!

ALGEBRA I

Be ready for the test over polynomials tomorrow!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment is a worksheet over converting fractions to decimals and vice versa. Here is a video with a few examples:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Solving addition and subtraction inequalities. You are doing #1-24. Graph the evens only! Here is a video with some examples:

GEOGRAPHY

We began our unit on Asia today. The homework is to complete the atlas activity over the Middle East.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We reviewed for the quiz over fraction equations and order of operations. The quiz is tomorrow! Please let me know if there is anything you need help with.

ALGEBRA I

We continued reviewing for the polynomials test. The test will be Wednesday.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE

The class took a test over fraction operations today.  No homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class took an equations test today. No homework!

GEOGRAPHY

The South America Unit test is tomorrow! Be sure to study tonight.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Order of operations with fractions. Here is a video with two examples. Let me know if you need help!

ALGEBRA I

We began the test review for polynomials today. You do not have to do any at home, but you could begin working on the odds as a way to study.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE

There will be a test over fraction operations on Thursday. The class began reviewing today. We will continue reviewing tomorrow!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The homework is #1-25 odds only - on the two-step equation worksheet. Everyone is getting really good at these! The make up test will be on Thursday.

GEOGRAPHY

Finish reading the section on pages 352-355, including the "Closer Look" section on page 354. (You will need that info to answer question #4.) The homework is #2-7 on page 355. On #7, you do not have a Student Journal. Just do this one on the same paper as the rest.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Your assignment is the fraction equations worksheet. Let me know if you have any questions!

ALGEBRA I

You are doing dividing polynomials today. Start with #2-16 evens, on the page in your book. We will continue with these tomorrow. If you have questions, just save them until class tomorrow!

See you then,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

Today, you are doing the worksheet over dividing fractions. Most finished in class.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today, you are reviewing one step equations that involve multiplying, dividing, or multiplying by the reciprocal to isolate the variable. Here is a video!

GEOGRAPHY

Today, the class learned how to make quipus. These are sets of strings tied with knots that the ancient Incan civilization used to keep track of all sorts of numerical data - such as births, deaths, tax records, military records, etc. Each student will make their own with the 6 strings I gave them, using 6 numbers that are meaningful to them.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We began going over problems from the decimal order of operations worksheets. There is no homework tonight. The class will be taking the quiz over decimal equations and order of operations on Thursday before our field trip.

ALGEBRA I

The class worked on a scientific notation assignment. Everyone finished in class.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE

The class learned how to multiply mixed numbers today. The assignment is the worksheet - evens only. I made a video with a few examples:

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

We reviewed integer operations today. The assignment is the integer operations worksheet. Tomorrow, the class will review one step equations with integers.

 GEOGRAPHY

The class learned about Jose de san Martin today and his fight for independence in Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The homework is a worksheet comparing san Martin to Bolivar. Remember, there is a COUNTRY QUIZ tomorrow! Don't forget to look up 2 natural resources instead of a holiday. You can find the resources under Geography on the CIA World Factbook.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We continued going over the test today. Tomorrow the class will review how to solve decimal equations.

ALGEBRA I

The class began learning how to simplify expressions with negative exponents. There is no homework today. They will begin working in class tomorrow!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE

The homework is a worksheet with extra practice multiplying and canceling fractions. You are doing evens only. I made a video showing how to multiply 3 fractions at once.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

We are going over how to solve equations again. The test from last week did not go well for most and this is a skill all students in 7th grade really need. So, today, I retaught how to solve one step equations without any negatives. Most all had no trouble with these and finished the practice problems in class.

GEOGRAPHY

The class took a quiz over the geography of South America as well as all the capitals.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We spent the class time today going over the test from last week. We will continue going over the test tomorrow. Everyone must write down any problems they  missed and will earn back some points for doing so. I will be reteaching the concepts from the test and then giving a couple of quizzes. The test grade will not be counted as a regular test grade.

ALGEBRA I

Multiplying special products. I made a video for you!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey
