SIXTH GRADE

We worked on greatest common factor today. I did not finish teaching the lesson so there is no homework tonight!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH, PRE-ALGEBRA, and GEOGRAPHY

We did not have these classes today because of the 7th grade field trip to St. Ann's Nursing Home.

***************REMEMBER GEOGRAPHY *************
There is a country quiz tomorrow!

ALGEBRA I

Here is the review for the performance assessment. I realized that there were a couple that would have been a struggle to graph. You will see that in the video. I'm really sorry! On the Performance Assessment, I PROMISE that they will be straightforward.

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class finished their Forest of Factor Trees in class - some did not finish and need to complete the poster (with color) for homework.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

We did not have class because of Mass this morning.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

We finished watching the Lewis and Clark video and then the class pasted in their country flags from the last quiz.

SIXTH GRADE

Today, the class worked on a poster of factorization called "Forest of Factor Trees". They will have time to finish it tomorrow...or Monday. No homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class took a quiz today...many didn't finish but they will have time to finish tomorrow....or Monday.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

We watched most of the Lewis and Clark video today. We will finish it tomorrow...or Monday.

SIXTH GRADE

Factors and Prime Factorization - you are doing #6-25. I made a video with examples!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

You have a quiz tomorrow over all operations with fractions - adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

GEOGRAPHY

We weren't able to watch the video again - it was freezing for some reason - so the class took notes on The Caribbean. We WILL watch it tomorrow. I was able to download the video so it won't have to stream from the internet. (Thank you, Mr. Swickey!)

PRE-ALGEBRA

Multiplying and dividing signed fractions and mixed numbers. I made a short video with two examples.

ALGEBRA I

We began working on an assignment with applications of linear equations and inequalities. You do not have to finish it tonight! We will continue on the assignment tomorrow and do the slinky activity!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE MATH

We began discussing prime and composite numbers and prime factorization today. There is no homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH
& PRE-ALGEBRA

I taught both classes a new way of adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. I think it made it easier for everyone! Here is a video that both classes can watch. 7th grade only needs to watch the first two pages - Pre-Algebra, watch the whole thing.

GEOGRAPHY

The class took notes on Canada and Mexico today. We weren't able to watch the Lewis and Clark video because of the internet troubles, but hopefully we can tomorrow! If not...more notes. BE READY FOR THE COUNTRY QUIZ TOMORROW!

ALGEBRA I

Finish the last two problems from the modeling linear equations handout.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

You are doing divisibility rules today. page 160, #6-25. Remember, to check if a number is divisible by another number, follow the rules. For example, is 1,572 divisible by 2, 3, 5, 9, or 10?

Since 1,572 ends in 2, it is divisible by 2.
Since the digits in 1,572 add up to 15 (1+5+7+2=15), then it is divisible by 3, because 3 goes into 15.
Since 1,572 doesn't end in 5 or 0, it is NOT divisible by 5.
Since the digits in 1,572 add up to 15, then it is NOT divisible by 9 since 9 does not go into 15.

You would write as your answer: 2 and 3

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today, you are doing the reteaching worksheet on comparing and ordering fractions. If you need help, look at the video from the Thursday before Thanksgiving. (It's the post right below this one.)

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

The class took notes on the physical features of the United States today. The homework is the US Mountains handout. Remember, you are listing mountain ranges, not individual mountains. Then find the region the range is in and compare it in elevation to the Rockies and the Appalachians.

THERE IS A COUNTRY QUIZ ON WEDNESDAY! Be sure to look up facts for a new country in North America.

PRE-ALGEBRA

You are doing the worksheet on adding signed mixed numbers. You can watch the video from the Thursday before Thanksgiving (in the post below) for most of it. I made a new video with examples of how to add 3 fractions.

ALGEBRA I

Just finish question #2 on the handout. We will work more in class tomorrow!

See you tomorrow,
Mrs. Swickey
