SIXTH GRADE

The class learned metric conversions today. Be sure to use your "staircase" to help you convert. You are doing page 423 #2-23. Here is a video with some examples:
SEVENTH GRADE MATH

We reviewed how to add and subtract decimals today. Remember to always line up the decimals and add place holder zeros in subtraction. Also, if there is a whole number, the decimal is on the RIGHT of the number. p10 #8-26.

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class worked on a worksheet with interesting facts - changing the numbers into scientific notation. Both positive and negative exponents.

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

We reviewed for the performance assessment which is tomorrow.

ALGEBRA I

We played a game in class with equations. No homework!

See you tomorrow,

SIXTH GRADE MATH

We discussed how to convert metric measurements and added a new foldable into the interactive notebook. There is no homework today!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class took a performance assessment today. No homework!

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

Scientific Notation with negative exponents. Remember, to change it into scientific notation, move the decimal to the right until it is between the first two non-zero digits. The exponent will be negative since the number is between 0 and 1. To change a number in scientific notation back into standard form, move the decimal to the left. The exponent will be negative and one less than the number of zeros.

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class worked on an in-class activity with scientific notation and ordering. There is a short homework assignment.

ALGEBRA I

More practice with equations. Additional Exercises worksheet 2.4.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class took the decimals test today! No homework.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The homework is the Order Of Operations Analysis worksheet. Find the error in the worked out problem and circle it. Then explain in a complete sentence why it is incorrect. Be sure to talk about what order of operations was done incorrectly and be specific about the part of the problem that is incorrect. Such as: "You multiplied 2 times 3 and you were supposed to divide 10 by 2 first. In order of operations, multiplication and division are done from left to right." THEN, find the correct answer!

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

We reviewed for the Real Numbers test. The class did extremely well during the review, so I told them the test was tomorrow!

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

Scientific Notation with mixed positive and negative exponents, Kuta worksheet.

ALGEBRA I

The class does not have homework today. They added a new foldable - a flow chart for solving equations - into their Interactive Notebooks and tomorrow, we will go over that and talk about how to deal with decimal and fraction equations.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class has a test over decimal operations on Wednesday. We spent today working on the test review. Students do not have to finish the review at home. We will finish together in class tomorrow.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today's assignment is the mystery picture on graph paper. Also, be sure you are catching up on any missing work.

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class finished the Math Libs activity in class today. The homework is the Real Numbers B worksheet, with a few extra order of operations problems on the back.

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

Today's assignment is the scientific notation problems. Everyone finished in class.

ALGEBRA I

Today's homework is the Kuta worksheet over combining like terms with some distributive property problems on the back. Some students struggled a bit with this last week, so we took an extra day to practice. We will start on multiplication and division equations tomorrow.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The homework for today is the dividing decimals worksheet 7.7. This one is a little bit harder because you are dividing by a two digit number. But you still follow the same rules for decimals.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today, we spent time discussing rising sea levels, glacier ice melt, and the affects on coasts and low lying islands. Then the students worked a problem to figure out how many inches the seas have risen over the last 20 years. We discussed our responsibility to all of God's creation and things we can do to help reduce our negative impact on the planet.  There is no homework!

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

Evaluating Variable Expressions worksheet. Remember, first change the variables to the values given. Then simplify using the order of operations. GEMA. Also, remember that any number "stuck to" a parentheses or another variable means that you multiply.

Example: 3(2x + 4) ; use x =5

First, you would replace x with 5 and multiply it by 2 since it says 2x. So, it would look like this:

3(2 times 5 + 4)
3(10 + 4)
3(14)

Now you would multiply 3 and 14 to get 42.

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

We reviewed for the test over Real Numbers today. Please go over the review tonight! The test is tomorrow.

ALGEBRA I

Page 79-80, #34-64 evens. I know some of you had questions that I didn't get to today. I will give you all 15 minutes in class tomorrow to finish the assignment and ask for help! Don't stress about it tonight.

See you tomorrow!

Everyone received a progress report today. Only those with the signature line highlighted need to be signed and returned to me. If you have any questions, please let me know! You can email me using the "Contact Me" button on the right.

SIXTH GRADE MATH

Today's homework is more practice with dividing decimals. (A worksheet with 16 problems.) Several students are stumbling some on the process so we needed another day to practice!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today's homework is more practice with the coordinate plane. Worksheet 10-1.

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

We finished discussing real numbers today. The homework is the Real Numbers worksheet. Please don't forget to do the number line at the bottom of the paper!

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

We went over the sets of real numbers again. The homework is the worksheet "Where Does The Number Go?" Be sure to do the number line on the back of the paper!

ALGEBRA I

We reviewed how to simplify expressions and combine like terms. The homework is page 79, #2-32 evens.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

Today's homework is more dividing decimals. The work is done on graph paper with one number going in each square. This will help the students line up the decimals as well as the place values correctly.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class took a test over Integers today. No homework!

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class began Unit 1 today with a lesson on powers and exponents as well as order of operations. The homework is page 88 #1-30.

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class worked on an activity in class. Some did not finish today, but will have time to finish in class tomorrow! No homework.

ALGEBRA I

There is a test tomorrow over Unit 1. The class worked on a test review today. Everyone was a little worried at first, but after doing the review, they all seemed very comfortable with the material. It should not be a difficult test for them.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

Today, you learned how to divide decimals by whole numbers and decimals. Here is a quick video to help you remember the steps. The homework is the 15 problems on the handout.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

You have a test tomorrow over integers. Please go over your review!

SEVENTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

The class took a quiz today over integers. We will begin the first unit tomorrow!

EIGHTH GRADE PRE-ALGEBRA

Today's assignment was practice with evaluating expressions using negative numbers.

ALGEBRA I

The class continued learning about properties of numbers. You are doing #2-62 and 72-96 evens on pages 63-64.

See you tomorrow!
