SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment is a continuation of Least Common Multiple. Tomorrow, we will be finding the least common denominator of two fractions and changing the fractions. This is in preparation for adding and subtracting. If you have trouble tonight, watch yesterday's video!

SEVENTH GRADE

Math: Distributive Property. Remember, to distribute means to pass out or to give out. You are giving the number outside the parenthesis to everything inside, by multiplying. Here is an example:

3(2x - 4)

You would give the 2x and the -4 a 3 by multiplying like this: 3 times 2x and 3 times -4. Your answer would be:

6x - 12

Here is an example with a negative number in front:

-2(5 - 7x)

Now you have to give the -2 to both the 5 and the -7x. So you would multiply like this:

-2 times 5 and -2 times -7x.

-2 times 5 is -10

-2 times -7x is +14x. (The positive sign will be used as a plus sign.)

So the answer is:

-10 + 14x

Here's one more:

-(3x - 8)

This time, there isn't a number in front of the parenthesis; just a negative sign. You can add a 1 and make it negative 1 or just distribute the negative sign. Here is how it would look:

-1 times 3x and -1 times -8

-1 times 3x is -3x

-1 times -8 is +8

So the answer is:

-3x + 8

Let me know if you have any questions!

Geography: Your assignment is the US & Canada map activity. Use your atlas to find, label, and color all of the items on the list.

EIGHTH GRADE

Pre-Algebra: We didn't have time to complete the lesson today so there is no homework!

Algebra I: You have 10 more substitution problems. Be sure to finish yesterday's assignment, if you haven't already. I will not count it late if you turn it in tomorrow!

See you then,
