SIXTH GRADE

On Friday, the class helped color pictures to decorate my room for the carnival. Thanks for your help! No homework.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

On Friday, the class helped set up for the carnival.

GEOGRAPHY

On Friday, the class took notes over socio-economic factors. No homework.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We finished the test review. The equations and expressions test is on Monday. Here are the last three problems that we didn't get to:

22.

12 + 8 -3g = 7g + g - 13

20 - 3g = 8g - 13      (combine like terms on each side. 12 + 8 on the left and 7g + g on the right.)
     + 3g   +3g
20 = 11g - 13    (move the -3g to the right side by adding 3g to both sides)
+13         + 13

33 = 11g         move the -13 to the left side

divide both sides by 11 to get the g by itself. The answer is:

3 = g

23.

9y + 2 - 5y = -13 + y + 6

4y + 2 = -7 + y      (combine 9y -5y on the left to get 4y and -13 + 6 to get -7 on the right)
-y                -y

3y + 2 = -7         (move the +y on the right side to the left by subtracting it on both sides.)
     -2      -2

3y = -9       (move the +2 to the right side by subtracting 2 from both sides.)

y = -3      (divide both sides by 3)

25. 7(3b - 2) + 10 = -(3b -20)

21b -14 + 10 = -3b +20    (distribute the 7 to the 3b and -2 to get 21b -14. Then distribute the
                                          negative sign to the 3b - 20. It changes BOTH signs so you have -3b + 20.

21b -4 = -3b + 20 (combine like terms on the left side -14 + 10 = -4)
+3b        +3b

24b - 4 = 20    (get the -3b to the left side by adding 3b to both sides.)
       +4     +4

24b = 24         (move the 4 to the right side by adding 4)

b = 1           (divide both sides by 24)

ALGEBRA I
