SIXTH GRADE

Today, we went over misleading graphs again and the students shared the intentionally misleading graphs they made. This was in preparation for the Performance Assessment which is tomorrow! I expect everyone to do very well. They will be identifying parts of misleading graphs, fixing one graph to make it proper, and identifying types of graphs that should be made with a given set of data.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Adding and subtracting signed decimals. You are supposed to do #1-14.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

We worked in the computer lab today, gettin the pictures for the slideshow ready. I didn't think we'd be able to use it tomorrow, but we can for about 30 minutes. If you didn't finish typing your descriptions today, you can finish that tomorrow.

PRE-ALGEBRA

There is a performance assessment tomorrow over equations and inequalities. Please go over the review.

ALGEBRA I

Writing equations of lines in standard form. Let me know if you need help or a video explaining how to do it again!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The homework assignment for tonight is to complete the worksheet on Misleading Graphs. You are doing all of the problems.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

You are adding and subtracting mixed numbers. I made a video for you! Remember, you are just doing the evens on the front side.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

Today, we read about societal groups and the class worked on their social webs. You need to finish the rough draft of your web tonight. Let me know if you have any questions! You can also be working on your pictures. We will try to get some of them uploaded in class tomorrow.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Two step and multi-step equations. Here is a video! You are doing evens only except for #34.

ALGEBRA I

More practice with writing equations in slope intercept form.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class finished their test today. No homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

More adding signed fractions. If you need help, watch the video from yesterday. Also, you can send me an email anytime!

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

I passed out new textbooks today! The new books come in a set of two - Western and Eastern Hemisphere. Unfortunately, we didn't realize we didn't have the correct number of Western Hemisphere books. We will be able to get new ones in time for our unit on North America, though. Today, we read from a section on culture that is fortunately in both books. We are going to work on a Culture Project in which the students will be displaying or sharing parts of their own culture. We will do this through pictures and posters. Most of the work will be done in class - except for taking pictures, but hopefully, that will be a fun homework assignment! Tonight, you can begin taking some of the pictures you will need. However, we will not be able to work in the computer lab tomorrow as it is already taken for our class time. We will be in there on Tuesday though. Go ahead and bring your phone, USB drive, SD card, and cable connector to class. I may be able to upload your pictures to my computer during class.

PRE-ALGEBRA

You are doing #5-21 on page 291.

Here is a video!

ALGEBRA I

You are working on writing equations in slope intercept form and graphing lines. Please let me know if you need help.

See you tomorrow!

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class began their graphing test for Unit 2 today. No one finished as there were 6 graphs to make. The class will finish tomorrow!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Adding signed fractions. I made a video for you!

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

We discussed how regions changed over time and the class took notes. There is no homework.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Solving addition and subtraction inequalities and graphing on a number line. You are doing #8-20 on page  . Here is a video with a few examples.

ALGEBRA I

Graphing lines using slope intercept form. You do NOT have to graph #3-4 or 9-10. I didn't see that those had fractions for the y-intercept. So...write the equation of the lines for #1-10 and graph #1-2,
5-8, and #11-16. Here is a video with examples:

See you tomorrow!

All classes: Grades are supposed to be updated today on Power School, but I am behind because of my bicycle accident. I will endeavor to be caught up (or to get closer) in the next day or two. Parents, let me know if you have any specific questions.

SIXTH GRADE

The class is going to have a test tomorrow over graphing. The students will be creating the following graphs: bar graph, double bar graph, line graph, double line graph, histogram, stem and leaf plot. I will tell them which type of graph to make with the given data. There will be no other parts to the test. This is simply a graphing test - the important things to remember are to label the axes, include a title, make the bars or points evenly spaced, and the interval needs to be logical and numbered correctly.

We did not have 7th grade math, Pre-Algebra, or Geography today due to Mass and science fair testing. We will have all three classes tomorrow though!

ALGEBRA I

#2-32 evens - I don't have the page number with me. Graphing using x and y intercepts. Let me know if you have any questions!

See you tomorrow,

Mrs. Swickey
