SIXTH GRADE

The class finished a test today. There is no homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Scientifically Speaking worksheet. More practice with changing really small and really large numbers into scientific notation.

GEOGRAPHY

We discussed language and religion today. There is no new homework. The culture project is due tomorrow! Make sure you have completed all the parts to it. If you need to send me your pictures by email, that is fine. First, send me a message using the contact button on the right and I'll write you back. Then you can attach the pictures to a new email.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Prime, composite, prime factorization, and finding the GCF using prime factorization. Here is a video with some examples. You are doing #2-38 evens only on section 2-1.

ALGEBRA I

You are doing #2-28 evens for the section in chapter 2 on inequalities. I don't have my book at home so I don't know the page number.

Here is a video with examples:

SIXTH GRADE

Today, we continued reviewing for the graphing test. The test is tomorrow! Be sure you understand everything from the review.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today, the class practiced a little bit more about scientific notation and watched a video showing the powers of 10.

GEOGRAPHY

The class worked on their culture project today. Be sure you have everything you need for your social web, traditions, language, and music for tomorrow so you can work on your poster.

PRE-ALGEBRA

The class practiced on more inequalities for the quiz tomorrow.

ALGEBRA I

We continued reviewing for the Linear Equations Test. The test is tomorrow. Here are the answers to the last 4 questions:

44. The answer is y = -3. The line y = -2 is a horizontal line and the new line needs to be parallel to this one. So the new line will also be horizontal. Since it goes through the point (4, -3), you just have to write y = -3.

45. Slope intercept form is: y = -1/3x + 4. Standard form is x + 3y = 12 Since it is perpendicular to y = 3x - 5, the slope of the new line is -1/3 (opposite reciprocal of 3). Use point-slope form to change it into slope intercept form. Once you have that, to change it into standard form, you have to move the -1/3x to the left side by adding it. That makes it positive on the left side, but now multiply all terms by 3 to get rid of the fraction.

For the last three, you are looking at the slopes. If they are the same, the lines are parallel. If they are opposite reciprocals, the lines are perpendicular. If the slopes are neither the same OR opposite reciprocals, then it is neither parallel or perpendicular.

46. This is neither. The first slope is -3 and the second is 3. While -3 and 3 are opposites, they are not also reciprocals. So....it can't be perpendicular.

47. These are parallel. Both slopes are -5.

48. These are perpendicular. 3 and -1/3 are opposite reciprocals.

Let me know if you have any questions!

SIXTH GRADE

Stem and Leaf Plots. You are doing #1-10 on page 86.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Scientific Notation. page 108 #3-25

GEOGRAPHY

The class took a test today. No homework!

PRE-ALGEBRA

Solving multi-step inequalities.

ALGEBRA I

Functions. Here is a video with some examples. Sorry this took me so long to post!

SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment is to create the double line graph with the cell phone data. Don't forget to answer the questions!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Continue working on the fraction order of operations worksheet. All 12 will be due on Monday.

GEOGRAPHY

We continued reviewing for the Unit 2 test. The test will be Tuesday.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Two step inequalities. These are the same as two-step equations. The only time anything is different is if you have to multiply or divide both sides by a negative number - that's when you flip the inequality sign.

ALGEBRA I

Writing linear equations in slope intercept form and standard form. Here is a video with some examples.

SIXTH GRADE

Today's assignment is to create a double line graph from the information about high and low temperatures.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today's assignment is order of operations with fractions. I know you will probably have questions. I will help you tomorrow.

GEOGRAPHY

We began reviewing for the unit 2 test. The test will be on Tuesday. We will have time tomorrow to review, but the class will be gone both Friday and Monday for the trips to the high schools, so we will not not have class.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Solving inequalities worksheet. There are no inequalities on this assignment where you have to flip the inequality sign. You won't be multiplying or dividing by a negative number.

ALGEBRA I

page 224 #2-44 evens. Here is a long video with several examples - including some that are like problems I know you will have questions over. Please watch all of it and then let me know if you still need help!

See you tomorrow,

SIXTH GRADE

Today's homework is to create a line graph with the data about heights by age. Remember, age is a measurement of TIME (years are time!) so age would go on the x axis. The rest of the homework is the worksheet with questions about the line graph.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

More practice dividing fractions worksheet. This is due on Wednesday. We will not have class tomorrow because of the special Mass for St. Charles Borromeo's feast day.

GEOGRAPHY

Today the class read about migration and push and pull factors. We also read a story about a girl and her family who emigrated from Ireland after the Great Potato Famine. The homework is the ten question worksheet.

PRE-ALGEBRA

Inequalities with multiplying and dividing. Remember, if you multiply or divide BOTH sides by a negative number, then you flip the inequality. Here is a video I made for last year's class. You are doing #5-21 from page 291.

ALGEBRA I

Finding slope from two points, from a graph, and from an equation. Here is a video. If I missed something, let me know. I don't have my book with me tonight.
See you tomorrow!
