SIXTH GRADE MATH

On Friday, the class continued working on metric conversions. If you are still confused, watch the video from Thursday. Continue working on the same paper - p423 #15-23.

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Review of multiplying decimals. p16 #11-28. Do not estimate...just find the products.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

The class took a test on Friday. No homework!

PRE-ALGEBRA

The class began unit 2 over equations by learning about terms. The assignment is p268, #7-21. Remember, terms are alike and can be combined if they have the exact same variable(s). You combine them by adding or subtracting their numerical coefficients. For example:

3x + 5x - 7x = 1x or x because they all have just an "x" and 3 + 5 - 7 = 1

For the second set, #23 - 28, you will have more than one term in the answer because they aren't all like terms. For example:

5x - 7y + 2y - 2x

First, you would combine the terms with "x". 5x - 2x = 3x

Then, you combine the terms with "y". -7y + 2y = -5y

So the final answer is 3x - 5y

Remember, the sign in front of the term goes with it. So, the 7y has a minus sign, so you can think of it as a negative 7y.

Here is another example:

3b + 5 - b - 9

First, combine the terms with "b". 3b - b is the same as 3b - 1b = 2b

Then combine the constant terms (when a number doesn't have a variable, it's "constant"): 5 - 9 = -4

So, your answer is 2b - 4. You could also write this as 2b + -4. It's the same thing.

ALGEBRA I

You are continuing with word problems with equations. I do not have my book or the numbers written down. If you have a question, please email me!

SIXTH GRADE

We reviewed the Decimals test today and then discussed metric measure. There is no homework!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class played a banking game to prepare for the performance assessment tomorrow. It would be a good idea to play the game a few times to make sure they fully understand how to write the expressions and how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers.

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

The class worked on scale today and found the scale of their relief maps.

PRE-ALGEBRA

We did not have class today because the Windy City Players were here. Your creative writing stories about irrational numbers are due tomorrow.

ALGEBRA I

The class reviewed equations today for the Unit 2 test tomorrow.

SIXTH GRADE MATH

Today's homework is another puzzle, but it's much easier than the last. You are reviewing decimal operations. Solve each problem and find the match in the answer column. When you are finished, then cut out the numbered squares and glue them to the correct lettered square to make a picture. If you are stuck on any of the problems, send me an email by clicking on the "Contact Me" button on the left. I will be happy to help!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

Today, the class learned graphing on a coordinate plane. The assignment is in chapter 10 (we have to skip around a lot!) on page 488. It's lesson 10-1. Do #1-26. If you get stuck, please let me know!

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

We continued working on the relief maps! They are beginning to look really good.

PRE-ALGEBRA

SIXTH GRADE MATH

The class worked more on the dividing decimals puzzle. If you didn't finish in class, please complete tonight. You can either glue or tape the puzzle together. Remember, they create a 4x4 grid, so each line will have just 4 squares. If you divided correctly, all of them will match up. Please let me know if you have any questions!

SEVENTH GRADE MATH

The class continued working on their integer math games today. Those that didn't finish in class will need to finish tonight so we can play them tomorrow!

SEVENTH GRADE GEOGRAPHY

The class is working hard on their relief maps! They are looking good so far, but will require more time than I anticipated. That's okay though...they are learning a lot about their continents.

PRE-ALGEBRA

The class took a test over real numbers today. No homework!

ALGEBRA I

p89 (?) #2-48 evens. Let me know if you have trouble!
